Overview

The STRONG Kids Assistant will assist in providing quality care in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment for all children and families that utilize the YMCA STRONG Kids program. All STRONG Kids staff will be responsible for the overall success of day-to-day operations of the STRONG Kids program, as well as being responsible for the high-quality childcare, which includes, but is not limited to, meeting internal and external child and parent needs. Ensures all participants are afforded a quality experience and programs reflect the YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

 

Hours vary Monday through Saturday, approximately 12-15 hours per week. 

Responsibilities

  1. Provides supervisory support at the YMCA M-F 8-11am, M-Th 4-7pm, and Saturday 8am-12pm. 
  2. Maintains records as required (i.e. attendance, inventory, incident reports, etc.). 
  3. Ensure that all staff, children, and parents are respectful of YMCA property; ensure all STRONG Kids rules are followed and enforced. 
  4. Work in a team environment and encourage open communication regarding concerns/issues with children, parents or co-workers. 
  5. Maintain open communication with the School Age Director and Coordinator. 
  6. Comply with the daily cleaning procedures outlined on the cleaning list. 
  7. Attends staff meetings and trainings as scheduled. 
  8. Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary. 

Qualifications

  1. Certifications: CPR, AED, Basic First Aid certification, Child Abuse Prevention, Mandated Reporter within 30 days of hire. 
  2. 16 years of age. 
  3. Previous experience working with children preferred. 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS: 

  • Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for extended periods of time. 
  • Potential exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids. 
  • Must be able to lift and/or assist children up to 50 pounds in weight. 
  • Must be able to lift and carry supplies weighing up to 20 pounds. 
  • Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time. 
  • Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking. 
  • Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate. 
  • Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency 
  • Ability to interact with and demonstrate program activities to youth.

Posted Salary Range

USD $15.00 - USD $22.50 /Hr.
